As far as I know, Apache is only a convenient way to browse the
subversion databse (called repository) within a web browser.

So you have a running subversion server. Fine.

But be aware that the SuSE version is very old. Subversion really
approaches the 1.0 (estimated next week) and there are complications
(solvable) to convert the database, since that will be a major upgrade
which uses a different database format.

BTW subversion 0.33.0 is the actual version.

I have setup Apache 2.48 (the latest) from www.apache.org together with
svn 0.33.0 and the first time was hard, but each time I upgrade I get
more and more used to.

Download svn from http://subversion.tigris.org/
as source tarball, uncompress and read the INSTALL document.

An install shouldn't take longer than an hour once you read that stuff.
And the INSTALL document hardly ever changes, so each time you upgrade
there won't be too much new things to take into account.

If you need help with that, feel free to email me, we can work out a way
to upgrade as easy as possible. I would suggest the subversion 1.0 as a
must-have, so lets wait until it becomes released and I will help you to
install that.

You really should subscribe to the users or developer list of subversion
since you will stay informed about new versions.

Subversion is very cool, far better than cvs since it is more fault
tolerant to network failures and it will keep the database intact if a
commit fails during transmit due to network problems.

Greetings,
Robert
