This will be my first ever attempt at this. I cut and pasted the
following instructions someone else relieved in another post regarding
this subject and I assume this is what I will need to do.
I will assume you have logged into KDE:
The way I usually install these drivers is to press ctrl, alt and F3
at the
same time. You should get a black screen with a prompt on it. Type
root and
press the return (enter) button. Enter the root password and press
return.
Now type:
/etc/init.d/xdm stop
This stops the X-window system under Suse. You should check that xdm
is in
that directory. If you are comming from windows, the directories are
separted with / and not with \ under linux.
Press ctrl, alt and F3 again to get your screen back where you were
working.
Now sou can type
sh NVIDIA-Linux--x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run
As far as I remember there are a couple of questions to answer that
may need
scrolling down the page.
Now restart the X-windows with
/etc/init.d/xdm start
And a login screen should appear.
