Help configuring sendmail and fetchmail

I have my own domain name including domain email but cannot get
sendmail or fetchmail to work.

Whenever I try to do a relay test through
http://www.abuse.net/relay.html I get a "cannot connect to
colyngoodson.com" reply..

How do I properly configure sendmail and fetchmail or should I dump
them and get a SMTP and POP3 email server? If so, which open source
version is best?

Thanks
Colyn
