My first version of Linux that had XFree 4.x was SuSE 8.0 about a year & a
half ago. I bought it, installed it and there were no problems with
anything. Recenlty though I've upgraded to 8.2 and 9.0, and now the
graphics are screwy.
I grew kind of fond of TuxRacer (it's cute, and I've this thing for Penguins
ok?) only in both 8.2 and 9.0 it tries to go into some sort of weird video
mode that isn't supported by either my Radeon 7000 or my Princeton Ultra 52
monitor. This also happens with about 50% of the video clips in Alpha
Centauri & Alien Crossfire. This also seems to be the case in some of the
other bundled 3D games. Is there a setting that I have to edit manually,
or a command line option I'm missing or what? I've REALLY not gotten the
hang of 4.x yet since the only experience with it before SuSE was an
attempt to install it on Mandrake 7 and .... trust me that ain't pretty.
If there's a patch, an edit or whatever I'd appreciate some info, because
google gave me jack.
