Hi,
I'm using both Windows and Linux (XP professional and SuSE 9 Pro
respectively). My e-mail client is Mozilla (along with the default browser). I
chose this because it's open source and it exists for several platforms, so
easy migration from Windows to Linux or the other way is possible. There is a
plugin for Mozilla, called Enigmail (see http://enigmail.mozdev.org/) that is
used for sign/encryption/decryption of mail using GPG. Installation is rather
easy, all you have to do is to be logged in with administrative privileges,
install Mozilla, go to Enigmail's home page and install through the internet
(software installation from Mozilla's Preferences must be enabled). Of course,
you must convince her to change her e-mail client to Mozilla in case she
doesn't do that already. GPG for Windows must also be installed.
Of course, there is always PGP, but I don't know if there is any personal or
free edition used for e-mail sign/encryption/decryption, you have to check
this out yourself.
All my e-mails are signed using Mozilla Enigmail, you can see that yourself.
I hope I helped :-)
