Softraid installation and extension

Hallo to All,
I would like to set up a Softraid in Suse 8.2.
It should be a Raid 5, so I have to use a minimum of 3
disks/partition.
Now my question:
Is it possible to put new disks/partitions into the raid5 e.g. it now
works with 4 or 5 disks?? without moving the data (from the old 3 disk
raid5) to annother place??
This I would like to do, because the disks are really expensive an if
I need more Space I could put a new one to the raid5.
