SuSE 9.0 Pro, installed from CDs given by friend. Updates run after
installation. I have keyboard input problems in some applications; all are
the versions that come bundled, with updates run after the installation.
Mozilla: Will not accept any keyboard input to text boxes on web pages, or
in the box near the top where you can type a URL to view. It will, however,
accept any and all input from the mouse. And it will accept keyboard input
to make changes in "Preferences."
gnome-terminal and gedit: Both will accept keyboard input when they start
up. But if I switch focus to a different window, then come back to g-t or
gedit, neither will accept any further input.
I've been using Konqueror, KEdit and Konsole with no problems, but the
above-mentioned are, shall we say, "stronger preferences." Besides that, it
just "sits wrong" (as we say around these parts) to leave an unresolved
problem like this on the system.
This is a new installation, re-installed after using SuSE for a couple weeks
with no problems (migrated over after about a year with Red Hat). But I
wanted to change some stuff with partitions, so ended up re-installing.
Since I spent some time playing around selecting packages during
installation, is it possible, just maybe, that I might have "de-selected"
something I should have installed? I got a few dependency warnings while
selecting packages. But I resolved all of them in one way or another, and
had no warnings by the time I was ready to go ahead with the installation.
Any ideas?
