Thanks for the help.
I did exactly what you said on the XP machine. BTW the IP is
192.168.2.27. The name of the machine is XPPRO
The printer is an HP 932c.
When I configure the LPD access I used the lookup feature and got
192.168.2.1.
I put in the remote queue, which should be HP. When I do test remote LPD
access. "I get there was a problem . You specified an invalid queue name on
the printer server, the printer server does not accept print jobs, or the
queue on the printer server does not accept print jobs. It goes on to say
that the ping worked and finally Queue HP on host 192.168.2.1 does not
accept print jobs. Status of the queue HP unknown printer."
I tried to put in 192.168.2.27 which is the actual IP address for the XP
Pro machine I get "There was a problem. Cannot connect to the printer
server".
If I use XPPRO in the Host name. I get "Your network access is not properly
configured or the printer server is unknown or inaccessible"
The 192.168.2.1 is the default gateway, DHCP server and DNS server when
I do ipconfig /all on the XP machine.
When I try the printer set up on SMB. Host name come u 192.168.2.27
which is the IP for the XPPRO machine. The remote queue comes up HP. I put
in my user name and password and do Test remote SMB access and the test
works, at least it says print server is accessible and the light blinks on
the printer. Then when I move on to the next page if I leave Local Filtering
on and move on to pick the driver which is listed the Print Test fails, it
does nothing. If I uncheck Local Filtering I get the same Print Test but
again it just sits there and does nothing.
I am explaining this exactly as it happens on the SUSE 9.0 box.
I was sure your suggestion would work but I am still stuck. If you have
any other suggestions I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Charlie
