After fiddling around with the latest subversion release for over two days
without sucess I had given up on it. With all the right packages in the
right places I managed to run a (seemingly) sucessful 'make' but then the
last step in a 'make install' would fail with a segmentation fault (by
means of doing an 'svnversion' of the work directory) caused by an
incorrect result from the read_directory function in the apr library
(pointer to the name of the next entry was pointing to illegal address). No
debug info in the apr library meant end of story for me.
Then I found this collection of RPMs, that some clever people have
assembled:

It's brandnew and I thought I'd give it a shot and it all runs FINE so far!
You need to install the new neon package for subversion, too. Since Apache2
depends on it, you may want to uninstall Apache2 first, along with (the
Yast) neon, then install the new neon (PRM), then Apache2 again via Yast
(without neon), and then all of subversion via RPM.
My props to the people at German Uni Rostock who have done a great job!
Thought I'd pass this along.
