News groups and local server question

I'm running 9.0 at home and using Mozzilla for browsing and reading
Usenet newsgroups. My problem is that my ISP only retains messages
for 5-7 days. I don't always have time to sync messages and often
messages and they get deleted before I can read them. It's also a
pain for threaded messages where the older ones have been deleted.

I'd like to run my own server on my SuSE machine to retrieve my
commonly read newsgroups from my ISP's server and store them locally.
I have broadband so I'm always connected, behind a router. What's the
best approach to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance!
