First: NFS = Network File System, a good old filesharing system between
unices. Read more at
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/other-formats/html_single/NFS-HOWTO.html
I have experienced the same problem, my network card was not supported by
the SuSE 8.2 boot floppies. My DVD-drive was not functioning at the time
and I wanted to install SuSE 8.2 pro before a new CDR/DVD-drive arrived.
The card worked with SuSE 8.0, so I knew there had to be a solution. The
same for you if the card works with SuSE live-eval.
SuSE SDB (Support DataBase) is always a good place to start, and I found an
article which pointed out the path to success:
http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2001/09/grimmer_modules_floppy.html
The article is a bit outdated, but have a look at how the boot floppies are
made on recent SuSE-versions and you get the drift. I made a driver floppy
with the "kernel" PCMCIA drivers because the "external" PCMCIA drivers on
the floppy did not work with my card. I also had to load the driver
manually from a different virtual console after loading the driver floppy
from YaST.
You will need access to the same SuSE version on a different computer to
make this work, unfortunately.
