I'm clutching at straws a bit here, but has anyone run into problems with
SUSE Linux 9.0 on a Gateway Performance 933 Pentium III system? I've been
having problems attaching a specific USB storage device (sometimes
resulting in a kernal oops and system lock-up).
This device has previously worked without complaint on RedHat 8 and
WindowsME. Other USB devices (Atmel WLAN and Canon scanner) are working
fine.
The motherboard is listed as a 'Fedora'. A knowledgeable friend has
examined my system logs and thinks he's detected a 'race condition' on
either the USB or PCI bus (still googling for that one). Not sure whether
this is a developing hardware failure or a software issue specific to SUSE.
Obviously with the name of the system-board, google throws up too many
links referring to the distro of the same name to be useful.
