Unfortunatly that is not how hardware always works. Put a comment in
front of the CD in /etc/fstab reboot, go to bios settings and disable
the CD and try again to see if it realy is the CD.

I have seen hardware that would not do a reboot, unless you waited 2
hours and after that it worked fine.
