What you want is a DSL modem that has an ethernet interface instead of an
USB interface. Then what you do is buy a router with firewall combination
that is compatible with the DSL modem you have. Connect the DSL modem to
the splitter box on the phone line, use an UTP cable to connect the modem
to the WAN port of the router, then connect your PC to one of the LAN ports
of the router, configure the thing and go. Sharing the connection is done
by the router, so just connect another computer on another LAN port, make
the setup and presto, you're sharing your internet connection.
