How to run Live-Eval from non-IDE CD-ROM with a boot floppy?

Hello,

I'm considering moving from Windows to Linux. As a test, I would like to
test drive Live-Eval on an old 200MHz PI machine. Unfortunately, the BIOS
on this machine can not boot from the CD, and the CD-ROM is non-IDE
(proprietary TEAC 55a Controller).

The documentation on the CD says that:
1) I can create a boot floppy and rescue floppy, but it does not say how to
create a floppy to boot Live-Eval (either from a CD or a hard drive).
2) the Live-Eval CD needs an IDE CD-ROM. My Teac is non-IDE (uses a
proprietary TEAC card). So even if I can execute "liveeval" from the CD,
"liveeval" won't be able to see itself!

I've searched the suse web site and Google, but I haven't found a way to
execute Live-eval on this old machine.

As a test, I created a DOS boot floppy that can access the TEAC CD-ROM
(added some stuff to "autoexec.bat" and "config.sys"), and tried to execute
the "liveeval" on the CD. But it failed.

I originally hoped that I could just boot into DOS, load the CD-ROM drivers,
and execute "liveeval". But that approach failed.
Then I looked for a way to run from a floppy. But that approach failed.

So ...
Is there any way that I can run Live-Eval on a machine whose BIOS will not
boot from CD-ROM, and whose CD-ROM is non-IDE?

thanks for the help,
DG
