Has nothing to do with dual boot; XP has no clue that there are other
OSes in the world and can't read their filesystems, so it's hidden as
far as XP knows and has no impact.

I'd look first to that AOL junk you have on your computer. I just
removed AOL from a computer two nights ago -- they complained about
how slow their computer was getting. IE opening a local site took no
less than 25 seconds and often more than a minute. Opening Control
Panel took 90 seconds. *Everything* was unbelievably slow and this is
on a 1.6 GHz box with a 7200 RPM 80GB drive. After the removal of AOL
it was back to near instant access on Control Panel and similar programs
with the internet stuff about five times faster.
