Hello, group
I am confused about the roles of YAST "System Update" and "Online Update".
Is Online Update a downloader while System Update performs the install?
I googled about, but could not find a explanation.
Example of my confusion:
Following tips in the recent thread "SUSE 9 and kernel", I decided to update
to KDE 3.2 from 3.1. I opened Online Update and pointed to
ftp.leo.org/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.0/yast-sourc
After a few of error messages, I gave up. Not a big deal, KDE 3.1 vs 3.2 is
not a quality of life issue for me.
Being a fiddler, I opened "System Update" to see what I could see.
"Packages" tells me something needs manual intervention. Hey, a bunch of
KDE 3.2 junk is in there! I click through the multiple choice questions,
YAST downloads and installs, I reboot and voila! KDE 3.2!
