As a starter you need your system logs, which by the sounds of things you
have been reading through, to determine if there are any problems
occurring.

Also when you ssh in, investigate the system using tools such as ps, df,
free; etc to see which processes are hogging the system resources and if
you have memory leaks; etc.

You could also check to see if you are running out of disk space on your
tmp directory or your log directory. It should not be the problem but I
am always surprised just how many times this has become a factor on some
systems that generate a large amount of logging. Though in your case it
seems this is not the problem as you can ssh to the server.

Also if you have purchased 9.0 then contact SuSe helpdesk.

Good luck.
