the system logs didnt have any entry at the time the freeze happened.
The only entry was that i logged in by ssh later.

i used top to see which processes are running. the only process running
was X, all others sleeping, no stopped ones and no zobies. Memory and
Swap file had enough free space. The cpu was also not very busy.
After replugging the usb mouse, it kept working, but no change.
Then i killed X, but the screen and keyboard stayed frozen

yes,i also checked that. but all partitions had still enough place.

i am using the ftp version

Now i updated the XFree version to 4.3.0.1 and the driver for my ati
radeon 9200 to fglrx-3.7.6, maybe that helps somehow.
But i am still wondering what can be the problem, because i wonder how
the screen and keyboard can be dead but the mouse still moving. And why
it happens just in the situation moving a window. maybe it is a problem
with kde. if it happens again maybe i will switch to gnome and see if it
happens there too.

  thank you
