Did you REALLY give up Windows?

I mean mainly the home users (I know that leaves one
hell of a lot of Linux users out). I'm wondering
how many have honestly left Microsoft products, in
particular their oopserating systems, but also
their other software, behind entirely.

As for me, I never did want to do the multi-boot
thingy, so I went ahead a while back and purchased
three spare hard drives for Linux distributions, in
addition to the (then) default hard drive in the
box which I upgraded from Windows ME to XP Home.

After a lot of meandering around with all these
hard drives and their distros; Mandrake, SuSE and
RedHat most of the time, I've finally settled on
SuSE 9 as the most stable, easy to use baby I have.
It is becoming my default, and I have not put the
Windows XP hard drive in the box for a while now.

Maybe it's time to take that one out back and have
a little skeet ceremony with my 12 gauge.. :O)

I admire and am envious of you who have nothing at
all to do with a Windows OS, and my hope is that
they'll be a time when we'll overtake and pass
Windows as the most used home OS. The main reason
I'm "envious" is that I don't have the knowledge
yet to make my SuSE do what XP can do, for my
purposes, which are quite mundane; mainly, to
be able to go to certain web sites where the games
that are available there need to use certain
plugins and scripts that are configured right into
Windows XP.

I do have flash, java and javascript on this
distro, but there are some sites where that is not
quite enough. One of them is www.pogo.com, where
only IE6 allows web dominoes to be played. Also,
at www.gamesville.com there are similar situations,
and I'm wondering if there are solutions for Mozilla
that I just have not been able to find, despite
repeated queries and searches over the past couple
of years.

Sorry about the long post in here.. the main thing
I'm wondering about is how many folks out there
honestly and truly DON'T USE WINDOWS FOR ANYTHING
on their home computers. :O)
