I'm running ulb-gnome here, a specially packaged and tweaked version of
Gnome 2.2 for SuSE (http://www.usr-local-bin.org), maintained and improved
almost daily. I gave up on KDE after plugging away at it for a couple of
years - it was just too buggy and besides KDE took up a lot of memory. So
far ulb-gnome has turned out to be rock solid and pretty fast too, though
being Gnome 2.2 you are not going to get all the bells and whistles of
recent versions of KDE. I think there is a large bias to KDE but then
SuSE's default has been KDE and they've been at the forefront of KDE
development so that's hardly surprising. However the noises coming out of
Novell suggest things may change during 2004.
