Hey all,

My cdrom & burner are sunddenly not being detected after a reeboot. I get
a "not a valid block device" error. It's correctable by
YaST2-->Hardware-->CD-ROM Drives-->Add both the drives are listed here but
not their mount point or link, the symlinks are as follows:

/cdrom-->/media/cdrom
/dev/cdrom-->/dev/sr1
/cdrecorder-->/media/cdrecorder
/dev/cdrecorder-->/dev/sr0

here's /etc/fstab

/dev/hda2 / reiserfs defaults 1 1
/dev/hda5 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hda3 /usr ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hda1 swap swap pri=42 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0
/dev/hdf4 /media/zip auto noauto,user 0 0
/dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0
/dev/hdb3 /+ ext3 user 1 2
/dev/hdb1 /MP3 ext3 user 1 2

I've run hwscan as suggested by SuSE.
Any suggestions??

Also, after installing KDE 3.2.1 I cannot use the failsafe option from the
login screen, I can access it but nothing will type into the screen. Apart
from that my KDE 3.2.1 install was painless thanks to pdiddys
instructions:)

One more thing, run away now if the word nvidia scares you!
I installed the nvidia drivers for my tnt2 model64 32MB card, all went
well, the setup compiled a kernel module for my kernel, the right files
are in place, the links are correct, the module is loaded. When I tried to
configure using:

sax2 - 0=nvidia

it fails giving me:

Sax:ups lost card during probing...abort

I configured /etc/X11/XF86Config manually as per nvidias instructions and
now gears tests fine but 3Ddiag fails. Is this ok?

Cheers for any help on any of these.
Simmo.
