I have recently purchased a Dell Dimension 4600 on which SuSE 8.2
installs extremely easily. Unfortunately however, not owning a
conventional television (and having no intention of purchasing one),
I rely on a Hauppauge WinTV-GO card in my existing PC with KWinTV to
watch television.

I also purchased a new WinTV-GO card to be installed in the new Dell.
The box claims that the card is a Model 607, however a sticker has
been placed over the model number in one location replacing "607"
with 612. Having installed the card, the operating system recognises
that the card exists; the output of lspci-v run as root:

However, SuSE 8.2 does not recognise the card at installation time,
and when I attempt to configure it manually using YaST2, I am given
the option of configuring it as a Hauppauge (bt848), Hauppauge
(bt878), Hauppauge WinCam newer (bt878) or Hauppauge WinTV PVR.
I have spent a good deal of time experimenting with each option,
but none of these work.

I understand from Googling that Linux in general has difficulty with
some of the more recent Hauppauge products. My question is, are there
any other currently available PCI TV tuners that SuSE 8.2 (or 9.0)
supports (perhaps not officially, as none appear to be listed in the
hardware database, but that folk have found to work)?

Unfortunately, installing the card from my old machine into my new one
does not appear to be an option since the card in the old machine has
been installed for so long that it has developed a marked curvature in
its position in the old machine's PCI slot, and although I did attempt
to swap it over earlier this evening, I came to the conclusion that the
degree of bending of the card required to install it in the new machine
may possibly break it, leaving me with no machine that works as as a TV
viewing device (I am decommissioning the Dell for now and re-installing
my old machine at my home office desk until such time as the TV tuner
issue is resolved).

TIA.
