Now I'm guessing, but does this mean that your laptop might be using a
chipset from Broadcom?

So this means you have it running at times on a LAN.....Are you then using
this card in Infrastructure (Managed) mode, in other words, with an AP, or
rather are you using this card in Ad-Hoc mode?

Where and how is the card obtaining its IP address? Are you assigning it
statically, or are you running a DHCP server on it, or maybe are you using
it along with some device which has a DHCP server incorporated?

Once again, HOW can you know that DNS is functioning correctly on this box?

This cable you mention......Are we talking about a power cable, a TV
cable, an ethernet cable.....?

You know, I sure would like to assist you, and heaven knows, I'm fairly
sharp with this stuff, but I REALLY do need further info if I'm going to
have a shot at it.......
