I had one box at work a while back that was i845 video. IIRC (and this
is *all* from memory!) it had similar problems. What I did was go into
the graphics/monitor setup (this was on Mandrake) and started with the
1280x1024 resolution, various bit-depths and tested each one. Continued
on down through 640x480 that way. When I next restarted the X server, I
had about 7 or 8 resolutions (using Ctrl-Alt-KeypadPlus/Minus). Don't
know if that will work on SUSE or not.
MIght want to still follow Mark's advice, too . . . :-)
