I have 4 PCs on a local Two run Windows (2k and XP), one is running
SuSE 8.2 Pro, and the one with the problem is a dual Opteron running
9.1 Pro.
I am trying to browse to my windows machine and to nount one of the
NTFS drives on my Opteron. All the machines are in a workgroup JARPCS
(defined via SWAT for Linux).
In LinNeighborhood, my 8.2 machine lists the workgroup under the
machine name, and if I browse as a user, all my machines are listed.
But on the Opteron, it is unable to see the workgroup or any of the
other machines.
I can add the XP machine explicitly to LinNeighborhood, and it even
sees the shared disks. But when I try to mount them, I get "bad
address".
The other strange thing is that winbindd will not start. The system
log says:
May 13 19:47:19 JAROPT winbindd[16278]: [2004/05/13 19:47:19, 0]
nsswitch/winbindd_util.c:winbindd_param_init(487)
May 13 19:47:19 JAROPT winbindd[16278]: winbindd: idmap uid range
missing or invalid
May 13 19:47:19 JAROPT winbindd[16278]: [2004/05/13 19:47:19, 0]
nsswitch/winbindd_util.c:winbindd_param_init(488)
May 13 19:47:19 JAROPT winbindd[16278]: winbindd: cannot continue,
exiting.
I am wondering if the SuSE firewall can be stopping things, although I
would assume if JAROPT can be seen by my other machines, this is not
the issue. Any ideas about why I cannot browse?
