I actually posted this elsewhere as well, linuxquestions.org to be
specific, and I lucked out. The guy suggested disabling Legacy Support in
the bios, that did the job, though it meant i had to move my keyboard
permanently into the PS/2 slot using the adapter. But it works, and i got
my modem working too (LTmodem that's been with me for a while.)
