Just curious, have you tried midnight commander?
When i copy big files with mc after a while the tranfer slows down but it
does go on, i gues that's the point where konqueror crashes.
I did not have any problems with nautilus either.
I've always used gnome on suse because there isn't a single kde app that i
use and i always found kde to be buggy, this time with the new 9.1 release
i wanted to give kde another try, after all suse is a pro kde distro, but
nevertheless gnome and gnome apps just works and kde and kde apps are
still crash-happy.
So maybe maxtor usb drives and linux aren't working perfecly most apps
other than kde apps are robust enough to handle it without crashing, don't
ask me why, this is just my experience.
So again, did you try non-kde apps?
