Ximian made me unhappy about their "take over" strategy, too. I know of
no shortcut. If you installed using RedCarpet, that will work to
recognize the Gnome-only stuff and remove it. Then uninstall RedCarpet
and use YaST to put stuff back like you want it. Without RedCarpet, you
can do it with YaST, AFAIK, by using the "Selections" function and
remove everything Gnome-related. The only other way I know of is doing
it all manually, and that requires some strong experience.
