Try adding user to the cdrecorder options in fstab, like so:
/dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs
user,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/cdrecorder should be a symlink to something else, perhaps /dev/hdd.
Check that devices permissions as well.
You might also try installing xcdroast and going through its
configuration. It's been a while, but I remember it had a setting to
explicitly allow burning for regular users. Since xcdroast and k3b are
both basicly just frontends for the various burning tools, that might
fix it for k3b also.
That's all I can think of for now.
