Hi Andy,

did you get anywhere with this?  I have the same setup and the same problem.
FWIW, I'm fairly sure it only started after I started using a router and
configuring the card with DHCP instead of using the DSL setup in YAST.
This is especially annoying since I only did this so my neighbour could use
my connection too.  Now it runs great on his XP box, but its complete
pants on my machine.

Things I have tried so far:
1. The resolve/modprobe change.  This made no difference.  However the
settings seem to be slightly different between SUSE 9.0 which that fix was
posted for, and SUSE 9.1.

2. I read somewhere that there was a fix addressing this already in Firefox
(DNS cache stops working), so I downloaded the latest bleeding edge nightly
build and tried that.  No change
there.  I also ran into problems running that, so I'm now back to
the regular 0.8. I also have the same problem running Konqueror, so it
seems to be more likely a network/card problem.

3. I tried deselecting "change host name via DHCP" in the network card
config.  This seems to have made some difference in that the "Resolving
host..." delay is now shorter, but only a bit.

So please do post any new ideas, this thread is still active!

Thanks,
