I have the problem with ATA 66 HD became an ATA 33. turns out it is a
hardware configuration problem, I connect my CD rom ATA 33 with the HD in a
same cable.
did your POST/BIOS show it is not ATA 100 ? if yes then it is not a linux
problem.
