Once you go to the update site, if you go to the "See Also" section and
select "Windows Update Catalog", there you can select the specific operating
system (not necessarily the one you are using) and put whatever security
update items you want in the download basket. Those files can be run w/o an
internet connection. If you want something like a version upgrade to DirectX
or IE you can go to a different location at Microsoft and download full
installation files, but AFAIK, all the security updates can be downloaded
using the procedure above.
If you do not see the "Windows Update Catalog" link you can select to show
it in the "Personalize Windows Update" section.
