Just installed 9.1 Pro - Wow...

Well, after playing around with the Live CD for 9.1 for a few days, I bought
the 9.1 Pro distro and installed it. I'm even more impressed than I was
when I ran the Live CD. Installation went off without a hitch. Once I
started playing with it, I had a few minor problems (couldn't send mail in
Kmail, and my Audigy soundcard kept muting itself), but I solved those
problems by reading some of the recent threads in this newsgroup (Thanks,
guys!)

I think the thing that surprised me the most was just how many applications
came with the distro. I'm trying to find Linux equivalents for the Windows
programs I use most, and most of my needs so far have been met with the
included software. I was happy to find an included spam filter
(SpamAssassin), as well as a lot of sound recording/editing software.
Under XP, I'm currently using SoundForge 6.0 to record vinyl albums to .WAV
files, remove pops and crackles, normalize the RMS volume levels, and store
them as .MP3 files. After spending several hundred dollars on SoundForge
and the noise reduction plug-in, I'm almost embarrassed to find out that
the included software in the 9.1 distro can do all of the things I need.

I still have a couple questions, and I'll post them later, but so far, it's
been a real joy.
