It just takes time. :-) You will learn a little more each day. If you
haven't done so already, you might want to read the FAQ for this ng,
there are some good links in it:

You also might want to read through the SUSE Linux Administration Guide
for specific help on SUSE. Then, for some good in-depth reading, try:

That's harder to answer. Each program uses that differently. If you
can't find any info on it with:

   nameofprog --help

and it's help file doesn't have anything, try their homepage and see if
any help there, or maybe it's manpage. This is just not any kind of
standard, so there's no one place to go for info. Sometimes, you might
have to download/install the source code and wander through it looking
for docs or text files, or reading the code to find out what it does. Or
even going through any config files looking for clues.

Not a good answer, I know, but I don't know what else to tell you. :-(
Ask a specific question on one program and someone may be able to tell
you how they are used . . .
