YaST2 not working properly

Hello,
    Will the yast2 feature work on suse 9.1 (commerical version) if I give a
copy of the cds to a friend of mine so he can load it up on the computer?
After speaking to a representative from Novell (suse company) he mentioned
that this will not work, is this so?
