Hi all,

New to linux, installed several distributions, but SuSE seems to be the best
one for me. The instalation went well, and most of my hardware is
recognized, but I'm worried still. SaX gives me some information on the
refresh rates of my monitor. Currently, I'm running my KDE at 1600x1200
(127kHz:100Hz; 284MHz). SaX knew my monitor, so in theory I needn't have
made any adjustments. But the refreshrate range given by SaX for my monitor
didn't match the ones in my monitor's booklet. No problem, the differences
weren't big, so I adjusted them. But why do the refreshrates mentioned by
SaX's test utility (as mentioned above: 127kHz and 100Hz) not match the
refresh rates in my monitor's booklet, which says that for 1600x1200 my
rates should be 106.25kHz and 85Hz. In addition, what does the 284MHz mean
Sax reports? I would edit XF86Config by hand, but there are specific notes
not to in that file.

Please point me to a HOWTO, FAQ, or anyone knows right away, please tell me.
I'm extra worried because if I listen real close, my monitor may be making
a buzzing sound...

Thanks,
Filip
