I have successfully installed a dual boot system and it is working ok. I
happened to install win first on the clean drive - default complete
drive partition ntfs. (I tidied the installation up and subsequently
used chkdsk /f to make sure). Then just used the 9.1 prof Cds to install
suse etc.
I noticed a fleeting error message during the no brainer suse install:
'Error could not create swap partition' I think I was given a choice to
accept or abort. I did not have much to loose, and had experience to
gain, so I accepted.
Now it is all installed etc - with no further help from me, which is
really good since I am a newb still, I (carefully) looked at yast
partitioner and it shows an apparently happy set of partitions:
(only a 40G drive here)
15G for win
1G for swap
20G for linux native
When starting up and using F2 for information I see a line something
like
'unable to find swap space signature'
and there may possibly be something earlier in the list with 'failed'
too - not sure if it was a swap something, it went up the display too
fast (is this in a boot log somewhere?)
It is certainly working, (and I am quietly amused by the apparent bias
in partition size towards linux, I had wondered what it would do)
but are these 'error' and 'failed' events significant for me, should I
be taking any action?
