suse 9.1 browse network does not work

i open the networking icon on desktop in suse 9.1. try to log on to my other
windows pc. it gives the smb://dandspc protocol error died unexpectedly
every time i try. any computer, correct log in or incorrect log in. same
problem. linneighboorhood doesn't wokr either. other linuxes on that pc
connect to lan fine. i would like to know why the suse is broken like this,
why is there such a bad bug in suse? and how do i if possible, fix this to
make it work?
