I am just curious if by chance someone on this group has managed to make the
above wireless PCI adapter work with SuSE, or Linux in general. I'm runnng
8.1, maybe it works with 9.1, but from what I've gathered through google, I
don't have my hopes up. I found a DriverLoader on linuxuant.com (i
believe), but I can't get it to work because the 9.0 'full' installation I
got from the DVD in Linux User&Developer Magazine doesn't install gcc or
the kernel source (odd for a developer magazine). I think I'm out of luck.
Which brings me to another quick question. Say I want to do a 9.1 ftp
install to upgrade my 8.1 installation (this is a different computer from
above, this one is not wireless)- it's time I redid the thing, when I
installed the first time - it was the first time, with me and Linux. So
I'm wondering if the ftp-install will allow me to configure things better
this time? Also, what about some of my settings - for instance, my KMail
saved messages and account setup and KNode setup. If I just don't reformat
/home, will that work? (it's on a separate partition). At least, I think
it is. That's how I do it now. What if it weren't that way. Is there a
way I can back up those settings and recopy them later without too much
fuss?
thanks for any help
