What spec machine, what disk controller do you have? Sounds like the
controller might not be recognised. I had the problem the other way round
with my new machine, 9.1 installed fine, but Windows XP couldn't find a
valid device to install on. In the end I had to download the controller
drivers and load them from floppy before it could recognise the Promise
SATA controller.
Maybe it is something similar. Please list your hardware.
