Hi all,
I just upgraded my laptop from 9.0 to 9.1. The machine concerned has
happily run 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0. I did a reformat and new install to get to
9.1. Now, the machine refuses to use the external monitor at the correct
resolution (1280x1024) - it detects the laptop's built in LCD screen, which
is 1024x768 only. For some reason XFree86 is setting the built in as the
default monitor, and then using the external LCD panel at the wrong
resolution. This behaviour differs from 9.0 and previous versions, where
it did the right thing.
Any suggestions as to how make X use the external monitor as the default,
and at the correct resolution? Various snippets from the log file
follow.....
