It works in Windows because the player reads the CD digitally instead of
with the audio cable.
If you're using KDE, select XMMS from the menu system (under Multimedia
on SUSE 8.2). Right click on the player, select Options and then
Preferences. Highlight 'Audio CD Reader', click 'Confugure' button and
select the 'Output' tab. Make sure the 'Read Digital CD Audio' radio
button is ON.
That should get you working. Then, have fun playing around with all the
options. You can download a bunch of skins and other plugins. It's a
great time-waster, especially some of the visualizations . . . :-)
