... i could care less the [physical] age of a
person. the general attitude of a person will
dictate their position on the age chart.
you'll notice that i snipped significant portions
from your original post, in my original reply.
"an application developer on Linux for 9 years"
then you go on to spew your experience. your
post is a RANT, which to me, simply equates to
a troll. why?
because you've offered nothing CONSTRUCTIVE. the
only thing you've provided is negative feedback.
heck, the first thing i did was to check if you
had x-posted to COLA. why? because the flavor of
your post smells of a typical COLA post.
you provided ZERO details about the hardware that
you're running on. you admitted that you avoid
doing sysadmin chores. and to be quite honest,
i'd question your ability as a Linux developer.
do you not use Linux as a workstation to develop
your apps? or do you use Kylix or java to do
"cross-platform" development? oh yea, you use
SecureCRT on Windows. now that's a REAL Linux
developer.
you're NOT a Linux developer. if you TRULY were,
you wouldnt flop on the getting it installed.
i can PERSONALLY cite upwards of 200 installations
of SuSE 9.1 on various hardware, and Gentoo and
Slackware, collectively, on over 100 installations,
with nary a hitch to get them installed.
i personally run Linux *ONLY* on my personal boxen
and when i HAVE to do the win2k thing, i run it
in a virtual box on Linux using VMWARE. my two
work laptops are duel-boots with Gentoo/SuSE and
win2k on them. none of these installs ever flaked
out out me. and i'm talking about out-of-the-box
installations - no special downloads or tweaking.
i've leant out my suse CDs to work collegues and
friends, etc, and they've all been able to install
it trouble-free. and with many of these folks,
this is their first exposure to a Linux install.
i installed the very first version of the very
first distro of Linux, *trouble-free*, waaaaay back
when.
and now you want to say you're a "Linux developer
of 9 years and cant install it"?
just out of curiosity, i did a search of you out
on groups.google.com. it appears you EVEN HAVE
issues with getting eXPensive to work!!!!
i also find it odd that you would be interested
in finding a picture of Britney's Husband ?!?!??!
