Hello
I have a Suse 9.1 installation, all the latest patches and updates. I'm
using the latest Samba from the Suse site, it's version 3.0.5-0.1. This
problem has existed through all the Samba upgrades I've done since using
Suse 9.1.
On the 3 Windows XP machines, they can see the mapped drive (the Linux
shared directory) quickly by going into network neighbourhood, or clicking
on the mapped drive icon.
But...on the Linux machine, when I bring up Network Neighbourhood, or
LinNeighbourhood, or Smb4k, it takes a long time (about 15 seconds) to
bring up the Workgroup in Konqueror, and after clicking on the Workgroup,
a long time to show the 3 windows machines. Clicking on a resource, like
the C drive, also takes a big time lag, about 10 seconds.
My smb.conf files is as follows:
# Samba config file created using SWAT
# from localhost (127.0.0.1)
# Date: 2004/01/01 11:27:07
# Global parameters

Any idea why it's so slow?
Thanks
Harry
