That alone should have been enough to say that anyone who flamed him was not
in the wrong.

As you said..."for *you*'.

Only when I switched cold turkey, literally the day I got my first distro of
Linux, I didn't whine about a darn thing. I dug my heels in and got to
'thinking'. When I couldn't figure it out on my own, I <gasp> asked questions,
instead of just giving up and coming to an NG and saying it was too hard on my
brain.

I kept a dual-boot system for about 2 years, but even during that time, I
rarely used my W98 system. I had better things to do than get on it and be in a
constant 'uptight' state worrying when it would crash on me, or what new
garbage would try to sneak into it and destroy what work I *was* able to do.

I don't do them, haven't for quite a long time now (nothing wrong with those
who do enjoy them, mind you), so this is a non-issue with me.

No problems here at all, other than the 'time' to do them, which is no big
deal since I start it just before I go to bed. Use DVD::rip. Download and read
the 'how-to' I found on the 'net for it here:

Haven't a clue what it is or what it's used for, so another non-issue for me.

I am constantly writing programmers of apps that I find very useful/nice/just
good stuff, to let them know I appreciate what they're doing, so I agree with
you here very much.

He's human, right? Then he's "designed to think". If he doesn't or refuses to
try, he deserves every flame he gets. Stupidity is not a decent excuse for
continual living.
