I've written to highpoint-tech.com support to see if they plan on putting
up a compiled module that will work with Suse 9.1 . it seems like they
don't seem to be in a hurry to support Linux, they release very lttle and
their documentation is terrible.

after reading many pages found in google on this subject

I tried compiling my own kernel but was not very good at it.

I've tried to mount a floppy with the one compiled for Suse 8.2 which I knew
would not work but what the heck I tried

I HAD to do afresh install of Suse after *several* iterations of compliling
and changing the symbnolic links to the new kernels , eventually I screwed
it up to where it would not boot.

the new install I did with

apm=off acpi=off hde=noprobe all way tru hdk=noprobe

I noticed that the paperwork at highpoint ask's for this for some versions
and not others, they also seem to use different bios versions in their card
if you use win or linux (seems odd to me)

I noticed that a fresh installation with these settings changes quite a few
things including the number scheme on the new kernel is this unique to
SUSE? (i like it)
