Upgraded Kernel and LT Modem

I have installed an upgraded kernel and then found that my LT modem is no longer recognised. I have
tried 'depmod' but this doesn't seem to have made things better. What have I missed?

I get the message /dev/ttyLT0 device not found.

When I boot from the old kernel everything is OK.
