|Was having an entirely different problem but I think the solution is the same in
|both cases. In /boot/grub/menu.lst change "vga=0x??? to vga=normal). That
|parameter tells it what resolution to start up at. If you say normal - or even
|just remove the parameter - it should start up using it's defaults.

Thank you Kevin. Just booted earlier today, so won't know how this
works until next time. Will drop a note in here if it works. I set
it to 'normal' though I know where to look for the translation to
resolution vs 0x???'s--or did at one time. I had been looking for a
parameter like that one, off and on for months, couldn't find nuttin.
