When booting Suse9.1 (installed via FTP), after selecting Linux in
Grub i'm presented with the boot screen showing % complete bar. It
starts at about 2% and sits there for about 2 min, no hard disk
activity. Pressing F2 does nothing. After about 2 min the machine
continues to boot and then I can press F2 to see more detail and
eventually getting to KDM.
I added the option vga=normal to menu.lst and can see that the system
reports the following when it seems to hang for a couple of minutes:
<4>hdg: no response (status = 0xfe)
<4>hdg: no response (status = 0xfe), resetting drive
<4>hdg: no response (status = 0xfe)
(taken from /var/log/boot.msg)
This probably has something to do with an additional SATA drive I
added recently for some additional storage?
Any ideas why there's "no response"? What can I do about this?
Thanks
KS
